Membership Matters/Fall 2006

As we look upon the 2006 SAS year and ready ourselves for what lies ahead in 2007, we cannot help but have a sense of joy for our Society and its members. We have shared many memorable and cheerful occasions in celebration of our grand Scottish heritage. We also must reflect upon those sad occasions when Society members have lost dear, loved ones. In these reflections, we should be asking ourselves, was I a valuable and contributing member to the Society in 2006 and do I help to ensure that our future generations of Scots are just as proud and committed to the forward movement and continuation of the St. Andrew’s Society of Jacksonville?

The SAS Board would like to encourage its members to not only be as active as possible and attend SAS events but to also encourage expanded membership in the Society. We also want to remind you that your children, living at home or away at school, through age 25, are considered members and are invited to all society events.

As our former membership secretary, Jean Wilson, so eloquently wrote it – “Membership Matters”.

To encourage our members to keep the SAS strong, the Board is announcing the
2007 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE.

Beginning at the December 2006 Christmas Ceilidh and running through November 2007, we propose that any current member who refers five (5) new members, whose dues are paid in full, your name will be placed in a drawing for a fabulous photo safari excursion to the Zulu Nyala Lodge in Africa. This excursion includes 6 days and 6 nights for two (2) people, full board and accommodations (airfare is not included). The winner has a two-year window in which to book the trip. You will get to experience, up close and their natural environment, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, Hippo and Nyala. What an adventure of a lifetime! It could be yours just by bringing in five new members to the SAS. In the coming months and throughout 2007, you will receive additional information about this opportunity and the membership drive.

Don’t forget, Membership does Matter………….
